Cook Bank Building
While on a commercial shoot in Las Vegas I took a side trip out to the ghost town Rhyolite NV to photograph the remnants of the Cook Bank Building. Because I had a tight schedule and needed to leave the next morning, after my commercial job, I grabbed a few hours of sleep and set out at 12 am to make the 2-hour drive to Rhyolite. It’s a bit unnerving to be heading out into the desert in the wee hours of the morning looking for a ghost town you’ve never seen without a clear understanding of the site conditions. Yet with over 20 years of commercial shoots under my belt, I was able to precisely time the entire process, from walk-though to final capture at dawn.
