What Is Copyright Infringement?

Using images on websites, social media, PDFs, brochures, presentations, or marketing materials without a license
Downloading, copying, modifying, or redistributing images
Submitting images to third parties, including press or media, without written authorization

Unauthorized use is a serious legal matter. U.S. copyright law allows for statutory and actual damages—often three times the standard licensing fee or more—plus legal fees. Infringement can result in significant liability, even if unintentional.

Industry Standard Practice

All uses of my images require written permission or a license. Standard industry practice demands proper licensing for any commercial, editorial, or promotional use. This protects everyone—clients, agencies, and creators—and ensures fair value for creative work.

If you want to use any image for any purpose—including editorial, PR, marketing, or advertising—it is imperative you contact me directly to obtain the proper license before use.

Warning: Unauthorized Use and Damages

Unauthorized use of my images is treated seriously. Under U.S. copyright law and industry best practices, those found in violation may be liable for three times the standard licensing fee per image, or more, plus legal fees. Failure to secure proper licensing may also result in statutory damages and attorney’s fees.

While my intent is always to resolve matters amicably and professionally, theft is theft. If my images are used without permission, I am prepared to enforce my rights to the fullest extent of the law. I strongly encourage anyone currently using my work without authorization to contact me immediately to arrange for a license and avoid escalation.
